National Postal Week is being celebrated in the country from 9 October to 15 October 2019 to create awareness about the role and contributions of postal sector in social and economic development as well as in lives of people and business. The National Postal Week involves various programmes which started with celebration of the World Post Day on October 9.

About National Postal Week 2019

The week is celebrated to commemorate the establishment of Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in Swiss capital Berne. The weekly celebrations which will conclude on 15 October 2019 are also aimed at generating a broader awareness about India Post’s role and activities among the public and media at national level. Regions Celebrated:

The postal circle is observing National Postal Week in each of 6 regions under its jurisdiction- Goa, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Aurangabad. To focus on various services provided by Department of Posts as part of week-long exercise, the department would celebrate:

1. World Post Day - October 9: Post Forum Meetings at Post Office premises, visit of School Children to Post Offices, workshop for Postal staff on soft skills, public interaction and general courtesy.
2. Savings Bank Day - 10 October: Savings Bank Melas / Camps to propagate Savings Bank Schemes, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) accounts, Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) enrolments etc. Camp in schools so as to sensitise school children about savings and encourage them for the same.
3. Postal Life Insurance Day - 11 October: Postal Life Insurance (PLI) Day – holding of Melas / Camps, door to door campaign, propagation by audio visual media to get new Postal Life Insurance / Rural Postal Life Insurance Business.
4. Philately Day - 12 October: “My Stamp” facility will be provided in prominent schools and Business Houses. Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Competition started, subject is “Dear Bapu, You are Immortal”. Last date of submission of entries is 30.11.2019.
5. Business Development Day - 14 October: Interaction with existing and potential customers for better understanding of their requirements and expectations as well as exploring the possibilities of  growth in business.
6. Mail Day - 15 October: Interaction with existing and potential customers for better understanding of their requirements and expectations as well as exploring the possibilities of  growth in business.
